Many Microdisplay, LCD and Plasma sets are only able to display 1280 x 720 pixels. When showing 1080i content (1920x1080), these sets will lower the resolution. Not with a 1080p set. This never throws any resolution away. LCD panel with natural black: Conventional LCD panels diffuse the backlighting, resulting in a lack of sharpness. Samsung’s super clear panel focuses the backlight, delivering perfect colors that don't bleed together, along with the deepest, darkest black possible. Wide Color Gamut CCFL: LCD TVs use a type of fluorescent lamp as their light source. Just like the fluorescent lamps in offices and other places, these lamps tend to emphasize blue. Samsung adjusts the signal so that the picture you see is more natural and closer to the original. S-PVA panel: When the whole family sits down to watch TV, or when you have guests over to watch the game, it's important that everyone gets to see the action. With Samsung's exclusive Super PVA LCD panels, you get a wide 178-degree viewing angle. Now everyone can sit in a great seat. 8ms response time: Fast sports and games require fast response from your LCD panel. Otherwise, the motion might get blurred. Samsung ensures a crisp image by having a response time that is over twice as fast as that required by the most demanding of today's HD sources. 12,000:1 dynamic contrast rati LCD panels create a picture by selectively letting light through from a constant source. This produces bright images well, but because that light source never turns off, can hurt dark images. Samsung analyzes each incoming frame and adjusts the panel and light source to produce the best result. This gives you deep dark scenes without dimming the bright ones. NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner: The ATSC tuner lets you receive free digital broadcasts, including HD signals, through an over the air antenna. QAM allows you to receive unscrambled HD from your cable provider without a set top box. The NTSC tuner will allow you to tune in to analog signals until the 2009 cutoff. Game Mode: Enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing response and enhances the sounds of your games. Picture and sound quality are optimized for the special needs of gaming systems at the touch of a button. 3 HDMI-CEC inputs: HDMI is the best digital connection for today's high definition sources. CEC adds a control interface so that you can, for instance, insert a disc in your HDMI-CEC enabled DVD player that will turn on the TV and change it to the right input. All you do is close the disc tray! Samsung offers two of these inputs on the back of the set and one on the side to keep you connected well into the future. |
